php не запускается в командной строке

При попытке запустить скрипт установки композитора в официальном контейнере докеров php (php: 5. 6-apache) командная строка, кажется, просто зависает в ожидании ввода

команда, которую я пытаюсь запустить, выглядит следующим образом 

curl -sS https://getcomposer.org/installer | php -- --install-dir=/usr/local/bin --filename=composer

, и если composer вручную установлен в каталоге / usr / bin и запускается с использованием 

composer

, происходит то же самое. Кажется, что PHP зависает в ожидании ввода, хотя вы можете нажать ctrl-c и выйти на терминал в любое время. Я пробовал установить 

apt-get install -y php5-cli

, но это не помогло. Есть идеи?
